Feed the Scorchpot Dragons

Nine landlords. One pot. Pet them after the meal, not instead of it.

Dragons

The dragon is the boss, the narrator, and the win condition. You cook or you are cooked. Feed the Scorchpot launched with a voiced tutorial landlord and a roster of unlockable dragons (the publisher’s posts mention nine). Some runs get easier. Some runs get pickier. None of them add extra-player modes. This remains a single-player contract.

Beat the default twenty-year deal before you treat dragons as a collection. The walkthrough is the exam. This page is the locker room.

The default landlord

The tutorial dragon is smug, patient until he is not, and very clear about the fine print: twenty years of dinner for protection. Year one is amusement. Later years are tribute. The lines on the publisher site are jokes. The hunger curve is the mechanic.

You can pet the dragon. Steam’s feature list and the store copy both brag about it. Petting is not a Flavor multiplier. Do it anyway. Then go buy a recipe. The Head Pats trophy is listed on Achievements.

Launch reviews name a few public faces. Baron is the voiced tutorial landlord and the default contract. Count is described as extra hungry while creating a feeding ground that can raise ingredient yields — a gift only if those hexes match Marks you can actually roll. Empress is described as asking for more food while handing extra deck-building points. GamesHedge counted eight unique dragons besides the base experience; publisher posts still say nine on the roster. Treat named examples as roles, then confirm the live Codex. Stacking a picky dragon on Difficulty Modes is a new contract, not a hat. A feeding ground that sits on scorched land during Tantrums is a pretty grave.

Unlockable dragons as difficulty mods

Reviewers describe extra dragons that make runs harder or easier, plus starting-deck unlocks (gem dice, pre-buffed buildings, even tier-two pieces you cannot place yet). That is New Game Plus with scales. An easier dragon is a teaching tool. A meaner dragon is a high-score filter. A joke starting kit is a puzzle.

If the menu lets you unlock everything without grinding, that is intentional for reviewers and for players who hate achievement gates. Use it if you want to study a dragon’s rules. Do not use it to skip learning Marks; How to Play still applies.

How a dragon changes shopping

A softer hunger curve lets you delay Essence and still finish the contract. A harsher curve means Scoring Combos is mandatory by year eight. A dragon that burns more often makes redundant clusters and pocket tools more valuable; see Shop Tools and Island Layout.

Do not rebuild your entire buildings philosophy because a new face is on the pause screen. Rebuild the calendar: when you buy the matching recipe, when you spend the Mark tool, when you stop expanding.

Trophies and the Codex

Forty Steam achievements tie to in-game trophies. Some will be dragon-specific, some will be score-specific, some will be jokes (the store highlights names like Head Pats Included). Chase them after you can feed a default contract without a wiki tab. The Codex lists dragons the same way it lists recipes: inspect, then cook.

How to get a new dragon

Progress, trophies, and menu unlocks. There is no redeem code and no raid boss. If a dragon is locked, finish a run or toggle the unlock menu. If you came here from a “how to get” search, that is the whole answer.

When you pick a new beast, still open Getting Started for a friend, and still keep Dice Odds nearby. The dice do not care who is hungry. They care what you built.

For tone, trailers, and whether the writing is for you, read the review. For patch context, Updates.

How a new dragon should change your calendar, not your identity

Players restart a whole philosophy the moment a new portrait appears. That is wasted ducats. Keep the same cluster logic from Island Layout. Change when you buy Essence, when you spend the Mark tool, and how many empty corners you defend. A meaner landlord shortens the luxury window. A kinder landlord lets you practice How to Play without a panic cook every season.

If a dragon’s Codex mentions extra tantrums, redundant clusters jump in value. If it mentions pickier recipes, matching volume cooks from the recipes tier list jump. If it mentions a joke starting die, still survey the seed before you stamp 12s. Unlocks are not a seed.

Pet after you cook. The achievement will wait. The quota will not.
